Coil

Every pipe starts as a coil of flat steel. We buy hot-rolled and galvanized coil and keep it at the works on Sialkot Bypass.

The thickness of the coil becomes the wall of the pipe, so coil is drawn from stock to match the wall thickness on order.

  • Hot-rolled coil
  • Galvanized coil
  • Thickness = wall

Step 02 of 06

Slitting

Coil is slit in-house into narrow strips. The width of the strip decides the size of the pipe: a wider strip closes into a bigger round.

Doing the slitting ourselves means we are not waiting on anyone else to run a size you need.

  • In-house
  • Strip width = pipe size
  • Slit to suit the order

Forming and welding

On the tube mill, the strip passes through a train of forming rolls that bend it, stand by stand, from flat to round.

At the weld station the two edges are heated and pressed together between squeeze rolls. That is the ERW seam: electric resistance welded, with no filler metal.

  • HRC and GI

Step 04 of 06

Sizing and cutting

After welding, the tube runs through sizing rolls that bring it to its finished diameter and round.

At the end of the line the pipe is cut to whatever length the order calls for.

  • Sized to round
  • Cut to order
  • Any length

Step 05 of 06

Inspection

Before pipe is bundled it is checked for the things a buyer checks: the seam, the straightness, the length and the wall.

Pipe that does not pass is pulled out of the bundle.

  • Straightness
  • Length + wall

Weighed dispatch

Pipe is sold by the piece, by the foot or by weight. Whichever way you buy, every truck is weighed before it leaves the gate.

Orders are planned against production, so the dispatch date we give you is the one we are working to.

  • Every truck weighed
  • Piece / foot / weight
